|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Set up, once | Before the first wish round on roster.sg | A few hours, once | Departments: check each band → Curriculum → Residents → Add residents → Paste residents, with the year R1 began as the admission cohort → Paste past postings: earlier years and this year → Existing residents: check → People → Add | Remove this resident |
| 2. Wish round | Once this year is in the Database; several weeks before the planning deadline | 15 minutes, then a few minutes a week | Residents → Add residents: next July's intake as R0 → Wishes → next year → Start a new round → Set a date for all five milestones. Weekly: Not in yet → Send email. No email: their page → Make a wish. End: the Deadline passes, or Close the round | Close the round, after typing CLOSE |
| 3. Plan | After the wish round's Deadline | 30 minutes | Plan a new year: a draft of next year → Paint the postings you must → Save → Set the dates, Block 1 to Block 12 → Settings: check the rules and scoring | Delete, on a draft |
| 4. Solve and review | After Plan, a few days before the planning deadline | Up to 15 minutes' wait for each solve, 30 minutes to review | Solve this table → a result card → read its folds → Use this solution → change boxes if needed → Save. For a what-if: Duplicate first | A new Solve this table replaces the last results |
| 5. File | By the planning deadline, with the wish round closed | 5 minutes | File in the Database → read the sheet → type FILE → File in the Database | File in the Database, after typing FILE |
| 6. Share | The day you file | 2 minutes | Load previous draft → the draft → Export → PDF or CSV | Nothing |
| 7. Through the year | July to June, whenever a posting changes; then start next year and go back to stage 2 | A few minutes a change | Database → the year → Edit → a box → Save → Save. A leaver: Left the programme. A failed posting: a box → Failed, to be done again | Delete, on a Database year, after typing DELETE |
Four things to remember
- A draft keeps the programme as it was when made. After Residents / Curriculum / Department data changed since this draft was made, press Duplicate.
- Close the wish round before you file that year. Filing fixes the residents' wish lists.
- A resident who leaves gets a Left the programme box. Never use Remove this resident for them: it erases their record.
- A new solve replaces the last results. Press Duplicate first to keep them.
