Residency rotation planner

A year of postings for the whole programme, drafted and compared.

The problem

Twelve blocks for every resident, within manpower bands, curricula and wishes, is slow to fit by hand.

What it does

  1. Set up the programme: residents, departments with manpower bands, and the curriculum.

  2. Wishes gathered by email, on schedule

Run a wish round that sends the invitations and reminders itself.

  3. Your hand-placed postings are kept

Solve the year's table, keeping any posting you placed by hand.

  4. Compare by wishes, breaches and manpower

Compare results side by side: wishes granted, breaches and manpower.

  5. File the chosen year in the Database, with each resident's record.

All names shown are fictional. Pictures and videos come from roster.sg's demos, never from a real roster.

Everything it can do
  • Place any posting by hand and let the solver fill the rest, keeping what you placed.
  • Run a wish round that sends the invitation, the reminders and the deadline itself, on dates you set, and shows who has replied.
  • Let residents enter and rank their own wishes: request a posting, or avoid one.
  • Tune the scoring (wishes, fairness, preferences) and the rules (curriculum quotas, manpower bands, your own rules).
  • Compare results side by side (wishes granted, breaches, manpower block by block, how many boxes differ) and preview one on the table.
  • Carry each resident's wish points and past postings across the years.
  • Paste residents and past postings from Excel.
  • Keep every filed year in the Database, with its edit history; filing a year updates each resident's record and wish points.
  • Export as PDF or CSV.
